Award_29.Musica Polonica Nova

“Wroclaw Award “Polonica Nova” is an initiative of Wroclaw city and the Polish Radio Station (“Program 2 Polskiego Radia”), prepared in cooperation with Wroclaw Philharmonic, and it was done for purposes of Polish Contemporary Music Festival – “Musica Polonica Nova”.

The award is given to the composer for the best song, whose world premiere took place in the past two years and which was developed over the last five years.” (information from festival press releases)

This small sculpture is composed of precisely hand painted patterns that visually remind the staff. They layer up one on another creating almost a musical composition: a complex, full of subtleties, vibrations, dynamism and spaciousness yet highly structured and beautifully composed.

A statue award is made of float glass – popularly known as a window glass that here symbolises the contemporary composers’ inspirations by their surroundings of everyday life.

MATERIALS: float glass hand painted, fused, cut polished, sandblasted and glued + wooden box, 2014
