Project created for “DRZEWO” exhibition. Curator: Jarosław Hulbój.

“Withering, standalone ash tree located in the Tatra National Park has been cut down and its wood has ben distributed among the dozen invited designers for them to work with it. Exhibition refers to the two ways of looking at the issue of transformation and it is the voice in the discussion about the constant tension occurring at the edge of culture and nature.”
(Tatra National Park and City Art Gallery of Wladyslaw hr. Zamoyski in Zakopane, Poland)

The work sets questions about exploitation, temporariness, authenticity and function. Invites to deliberate upon long-term results of our decisions in the times of instant culture.

Most of molds and glassmaking tools are made of wood. Wood (as a potash) has been a glass component for ages.

Glass just like natural Earth resources is easy to destroy, but at the same time quite durable while left alone on is own.

Crystal glass bowling pins have been crafted in wood, contain wood, its verticality and multiplicity reminds of a forest.

SIZE: 32 x 8 cm
MATERIALS: crystal blown glass, bowling ball, 2013

Work has been created thanks to the courtesy of “Zawiercie” S.A. Crystal Glass Factory.
